love sweet love!

val

So, Christmas is long gone, New Year's Eve a distant memory which means only one thing... it's almost Valentine's Day!

We worked up this simple idea for one of our restaurant clients on the theme of love and food. Watch this space for the rather interesting print version of the menu (it's still at the printers at the moment – hope the 'interesting' folds aren't causing them too many issues!)

you can't hurry lunch...

...no you'll just have to wait (sung in the style of Phil Collins).

Sorry Phil, but it turns out you can hurry lunch, at The Living Room at least, for whom we created this rather lovely express lunch menu!

Visit www.thelivingroom.co.uk now to sample their delicious menu.

Going green...

487

Well, it's been over a month since we last blogged and there's good reason too!

We've been very busy working with our client, Bar Room Bar on rebranding their estate of premium pizza kitchens & bars. The company, which operates 12 bars and restaurants in cities throughout the UK briefed us to create a simple new logo for the brand to complement the new lime green (or chartreuse to be exact) décor at Bar Room Bar Wanstead in London and at The Mailbox, Birmingham.

We developed design concepts for signage, staff uniforms, menus and a range of promotional materials which are now in use at the two sites. Other sites will follow suit in the coming months. By all means pop in when you're next in the area... the wood fired pizzas are to die for!

down to earth dining...

489

Now that summer has well and truly disappeared (apart from the odd flutter of blistering sunshine at the start of October) our work has taken a somewhat autumnal turn.

With all our Christmas campaigns wrapped up and delivered to venues across the country, we've been working on the brand new autumn/winter food menu launch for The Living Room Restaurant & Bar.

Check out their brand new menu at www.thelivingroom.co.uk and of course our creative handy work!

Bon apetit!

Suits you sir...

We love a bit of good news, especially when it's to do with projects we've worked on for a great cause.

The Living Room Restaurant & Bar, which has outlets all over the country, recently launched a campaign to help homeless and unemployed people get back into work.

Customers were asked to donate unwanted suits at their nearest The Living Room, which were then distributed via local charities to people who cannot afford professional workwear.

The Suit Amnesty campaign has been such a massive success it's been shortlisted in this year's CIPR PRide Awards 2011. Great news for our client!

We're really proud to have been able to provide the logo and branding for the scheme and hope our deserving client comes home with first prize!

the life of brian...

499

Brian Kenton is a rising star on the Swing 'n Jive scene. A contemporary Sinatra-style crooner, Brian approached us a few months back with a very interesting project.

We were asked to come up with some style concepts for his brand new show and were tasked with art directing and creating the finished marketing materials, as well as designing his new website (in progress).

"Just wanted to say thanks to the team at Fitzpatrick Design; you have worked wonders! The design is awesome, the icing on the cake and far better than I could have wished for.

I asked for a classic style, and ended up with iconic images, good enough to grace a gallery. I can't thank you guys enough for all your help; taking me through the whole process, always consulting me on changes and progress, supplying great creative input and advice, and most important of all, delivering on schedule and within the agreed budget."

the camera never lies...

The beauty of having a studio at a thriving creative environment like Woodend is that you get to meet and collaborate with some of the area's most talented people.

We've worked with David Chalmers Photography on a number of occasions and were asked to come up with a new, elegant portfolio mechanic to showcase his recent work.

David's worked on some pretty major projects, even photographing the Crown Jewels (shown above). Given that there was simply too much work to show in one go we opted for 6 separate pieces; each card featuring a range of beautiful photographs.

We also produced web versions of the portfolio cards for email marketing.

let's get the record straight...

We've just received our rather lovely record menu covers which we recently produced for Pizza Kitchen & Bars and Prohibition Bar & Grill. We were briefed by our client to create an interesting menu cover reminiscent of a retro vinyl record.

Sounds easy, but what a challenge it was!

The menus are constructed from a waterproof, moulded PVC material with 'grooves' and text content screenprinted for effect. The central disc was embossed to resemble an old vinyl.

Our clients were really pleased with the end product and we think it looks lovely too (if we may say so ourselves!)

fishing for compliments...

We've just received a rather lovely letter from Mr. Winking Willy praising the work we did for his £250,000 refurbishment project a short while ago.

"The time and care devoted to us by the Fitzpatrick Design team was outstanding from conception to final product, which is greatly appreciated.

Passionate, dedicated and committed, the team created a simple yet bold identity for our refurbished restaurant and chip shop, which was applied superbly to menus, signage and other items.

It's great to have a Yorkshire design consultancy that actually delivers on its promise, providing excellent design concepts that we didn't even know we wanted!"
