Embargo República – Hospitality & Nightlife Brand Development

Embargo República brought the spirit of Cuba to London’s King’s Road, combining live music, cocktails and an extensive selection of rums in a vibrant Chelsea nightlife destination. Fitzpatrick Design was commissioned to rebrand the venue and create a distinctive visual identity that captured its Cuban-inspired character while giving the brand a contemporary, colourful and memorable feel.

The new identity was applied across the venue and its marketing, including signage, menus, VIP event collateral, print and digital marketing materials.

THE BRIEF

Embargo República wanted to refresh its identity and create a stronger, more distinctive visual presence for its flagship bar and club on London’s King’s Road.

The challenge was to create a brand that felt authentically inspired by Cuba without becoming predictable or overly traditional. The identity needed to communicate the energy, colour and personality of the venue while working effectively across the many different touchpoints associated with a busy hospitality and nightlife brand.

From the outset, the aim was to create a flexible visual language that could work equally well across the physical venue, menus, events and marketing communications.

THE CREATIVE APPROACH

The creative direction combined bold colour, expressive typography and Cuban-inspired visual references to create a distinctive identity with a contemporary edge.

Rather than simply relying on obvious Cuban imagery, the approach was designed to capture the atmosphere and personality of Embargo República through a more sophisticated visual language. This allowed the brand to feel colourful, energetic and characterful while remaining commercially effective.

The identity was then developed across a range of practical applications, ensuring that the brand remained recognisable and consistent wherever customers encountered it.

BRAND IDENTITY ACROSS EVERY TOUCHPOINT

A successful hospitality identity needs to be flexible enough to work in many different formats, from large-scale signage and venue graphics to menus, invitations, event materials and digital communications.

For Embargo República, the identity was adapted across these different applications while maintaining a consistent visual character. This created a cohesive brand experience that could support both everyday venue communications and more promotional VIP and event activity.

THE RESULT

The resulting identity gave Embargo República a colourful, contemporary and distinctive visual presence that reflected the character of the venue and its Cuban-inspired proposition.

From signage and menus to VIP event collateral and print and digital marketing, the brand was applied consistently across the key customer and marketing touchpoints.

The result was a cohesive hospitality and nightlife identity designed to stand out in one of London’s most competitive entertainment environments.

HOSPITALITY & NIGHTLIFE BRANDING

Hospitality brands need to do more than look good. They need to create an atmosphere, communicate personality and work consistently across multiple customer touchpoints.

For Embargo República, the brand identity was developed to work across the physical environment as well as the marketing materials that supported the venue. Signage, menus, VIP event collateral and promotional communications all needed to feel like part of the same distinctive brand.

This joined-up approach helped create a stronger and more recognisable visual presence for the Chelsea venue.

“Fitzpatrick Design created the identity and marketing materials for our flagship club and bar on the King’s Road, Chelsea. They are excellent to work with, really helpful and creative and delivered a first-rate service. I would highly recommend them.”
