Lindy Lou Artisan Cakes - Artisan Food Brand Development & Creative Direction
Lindy Lou Artisan Cakes is a premium cake design business founded by Linda Jameson, a highly skilled cake designer and former Head Cake Decorator at renowned Yorkshire institution Betty’s of Harrogate.
Combining traditional decorating skills with contemporary design, Linda creates intricately crafted cakes with a distinctive creative style.
Fitzpatrick Design was brought on board to help define the Lindy Lou brand and create a professional visual identity that could support the business as it expanded into a wider national market.
Working closely with Linda, we developed the brand identity, creative direction, photography, marketing materials, social media assets and website, creating a cohesive visual platform that brought the personality and craftsmanship of the business to life.

THE BRIEF
Lindy Lou had already established a distinctive approach to cake design, combining exceptional craftsmanship with creativity and contemporary styling.
The challenge was to translate that individuality into a professional brand capable of supporting the next stage of the business.
As Lindy Lou looked towards expanding nationally, the identity and marketing needed to communicate the quality, personality and creativity behind the cakes while providing a consistent visual platform across print, photography, social media and digital communications.
THE CREATIVE APPROACH
Our approach began by identifying what made Lindy Lou distinctive: extraordinary attention to detail, craftsmanship, personality and a contemporary approach to traditional cake decoration.
Working closely with Linda, we developed a simple and flexible identity system designed to complement rather than compete with the intricate visual character of her work.
The brand identity then provided the foundation for a broader creative direction that could be applied consistently across photography, brochures, stationery, social media and the website.
THE RESULT
The project transformed Lindy Lou into a more cohesive and professionally presented brand, creating a visual platform capable of supporting the business as it expanded beyond its existing market.
The identity, art direction, photography, brochures, social media assets and website worked together to communicate the quality, creativity and craftsmanship behind Linda's work.
Most importantly, the brand provided a distinctive visual environment in which the cakes themselves could remain the focus.
ARTISAN FOOD BRANDING
For artisan food businesses, the product itself is often only one part of the brand experience.
Identity, photography, packaging, printed materials, social content and digital presentation all influence how customers perceive the quality and character of a business.
For Lindy Lou, the objective was to create a visual identity that reflected the craftsmanship of the cakes while allowing Linda's work to remain the hero.
The resulting brand provided a sophisticated but flexible framework capable of showcasing the detail, creativity and personality behind every creation.
ART DIRECTION & FOOD PHOTOGRAPHY
Photography became a particularly important part of the Lindy Lou brand.
We provided full art direction for an extensive two-day photoshoot, carefully considering the styling, composition and presentation required to capture the individuality and craftsmanship of Linda's cakes.
The resulting portfolio of imagery created a distinctive visual language for the business and provided high-quality content that could be used consistently across brochures, marketing, social media and the website.
Rather than treating photography as a separate element, it became an integral part of the wider brand identity.
BROCHURE & MARKETING DESIGN
We extended the new visual identity into a range of marketing materials, including a promotional brochure, stationery and social media assets.
Each application followed the same creative principles, combining strong imagery with considered typography and layouts to create a consistent and recognisable brand presence.
The brochure in particular provided a physical showcase for Linda's work, allowing the photography and craftsmanship of the cakes to take centre stage while reinforcing the premium positioning of the business.
WEBSITE & DIGITAL DESIGN
The new website was developed as another important expression of the Lindy Lou brand.
Bringing together the visual identity, art direction and photography, the site provided a professional digital showcase for Linda's portfolio and a platform through which potential customers could discover the business.
Creating the brand, photography and website as part of the same creative process ensured the identity remained consistent across physical and digital communications.
